Villarreal, Spain
Saturday, 15 March 2025
Kick-off is at 19h30
Villarreal CF will be looking to upset Real Madrid when they meet in a
La Liga match at the Estadio de la Cerámica on 15 March.
Current Form
The Yellow Submarine suffered a 1-0 defeat to Deportivo Alaves away on 8 March as their six-match unbeaten run in the Spanish top-flight came to an end.
However, Villarreal are undefeated in their last four matches at home in the league, having registered two draws and two successive victories at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
Meanwhile, Madrid claimed a 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano at home on 9 March and before that, Real Betis had ended their three-match unbeaten run in La Liga.
However, Los Blancos are winless in their last three away matches on the road in the league, having registered one draw and two defeats as the visitors.
Team News
Ilias Akhomach, Gerard Moreno and Kiko Femenía are all on Villarreal's injury list, but there are no suspension concerns.
Madrid, on the other hand, also do not have any suspension concerns, but they have one of the longest injury lists in La Liga.
Jude Bellingham, Thibaout Courtois, Antonio Rüdiger, Jesús Vallejo, Dani Ceballos, Éder Militão and Dani Carvajal are on Madrid's injury list.
Quotes
“The first half was normal and the second half was marked by many circumstances. The injury to (Antonio) Sivera, which fortunately was just a scare, and from then on there was very little play, a lot of stoppage time," Villarreal manager Marcelino García Toral said after his side's defeat to Alaves.
"The Alavés players were on the floor for a long time, but that’s normal considering what they’re playing for. We didn’t know how to play that final stretch. Our start and all that time with numerical superiority is far from the way we should be.
"When that happens, it’s normal for the result to be a negative one. We have to congratulate Alavés and we have to correct our mistakes, as we made a lot of them in this game."
Head-to-Head
Madrid secured a 2-0 win over Villarreal in their last meeting in La Liga, which took place at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on 5 October.
Therefore, Los Blancos are undefeated in their last three league matches against the Yellow Submarine, having registered one draw and two victories.
